There may come a time when you will want to change the primary domain on your cPanel account. While having an old domain set as the primary domain should not cause any issues, if the primary is no longer in use, there are some advantages to updating the primary.

Step One - Prepare the domain

First, you will need to register the new domain, if you have not already. If you need a new domain, you can purchase one from your MacHighway client area. You can find a guide on how to purchase a new domain here.

If you already have the domain registered, you will only need to update the name servers. If the domain is registered with us, you can also do this in your MacHighway client area, following this guide.

If the domain is not registered with us, you will need to contact your register and update the name server to the following name servers.

  • ns1.machighway.com
  • ns2.machighway.com

Step Two - Submit a ticket

Once you have your domain ready, you now need to submit a ticket to our admins for them to proceed with the change. You can see how to submit a ticket below.

Unfortunately there is no automated system for changing the primary domain in cPanel, so our admins will need to do it manually. Once the ticket is received, we should have the change complete within 48 hours, depending on the number of tickets at the time.

We will update you once the process is completed. There should be nothing that you will need to do on your end.
